27 - An-Naml
"Audhu billahi minash shaytanirrajeem"
Bismi Llaahi l-raḥmaani l-raḥeem
-
Taseen tilka ayatu alqurani wakitabin mubeenin;
Ta, Sin... These are the signs of the Quran (the knowledge of the reality and sunnatullah) and the signs of a Clear Book (the clearly evident system and order).
-
Hudan wabushra lilmumineena;
As guidance to the reality and good news for the believers!
-
Allatheena yuqeemoona alssalata wayutoona alzzakata wahum bialakhirati hum yooqinoona;
Who perform salat (experience ascension [miraj] by turning to Allah) and give from their possessions in order to become purified and refined; it is they who have attained certainty of their immortal life to come.
-
Inna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahum fahum yaAAmahoona;
As for those who do not believe in their immortal life to come, We have adorned their deeds to them and made it appear (as pleasurable), they falter and wander, blinded (to the reality).
-
Olaika allatheena lahum sooo alAAathabi wahum fee alakhirati humu alakhsaroona;
They are the ones who will have the worst suffering! And in the life to come, they will be the greatest losers!
-
Wainnaka latulaqqa alqurana min ladun hakeemin AAaleemin;
You (through your consciousness) have certainly received this Quran from the ladun (the potential of Names in your essence) of One who is Hakim and Aleem.
-
Ith qala moosa liahlihi innee anastu naran saateekum minha bikhabarin aw ateekum bishihabin qabasin laAAallakum tastaloona;
When Moses said to his people, “I have perceived a fire... I will either bring news from it or a burning ember with which you can warm yourselves.”
-
Falamma jaaha noodiya an boorika man fee alnnari waman hawlaha wasubhana Allahi rabbi alAAalameena;
When (Moses) came to (the fire), he perceived a voice, “Blessed is the one in that fire and the one near it! Allah the Subhan is the Rabb of the worlds!”
-
Ya moosa innahu ana Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu;
“O Moses! Indeed, I am Allah, the One who is Aziz and Hakim!”
-
Waalqi AAasaka falamma raaha tahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiran walam yuAAaqqib ya moosa la takhaf innee la yakhafu ladayya almursaloona;
“Throw your staff!”... When Moses saw his staff moving like a snake he turned and fled without looking back... “O Moses, do not be afraid! Indeed, the Rasuls have no fear in my presence!”
-
Illa man thalama thumma baddala husnan baAAda sooin fainnee ghafoorun raheemun;
“Except the one who does wrong (to himself)! As for one who does wrong and then corrects himself, I am the Ghafur, the Rahim.”
-
Waadkhil yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaa min ghayri sooin fee tisAAi ayatin ila firAAawna waqawmihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena;
“Put your hand inside your cloak... It will come out white without blemish... These are among the nine signs for Pharaoh and his people (to whom you have been disclosed as a Rasul)! Indeed, they have become corrupt in faith.”
-
Falamma jaathum ayatuna mubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeenun;
When Our miracles came to them in all their clarity, they said, “This is clearly magic.”
-
Wajahadoo biha waistayqanatha anfusuhum thulman waAAuluwwan faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena;
Even though they felt close to and certain (about the realities Moses expounded to them) they deliberately denied it, wrongfully and out of arrogance... Look and see how the corrupters ended up!
-
Walaqad atayna dawooda wasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdu lillahi allathee faddalana AAala katheerin min AAibadihi almumineena;
Indeed, We gave knowledge to David and Soloman... They both said, “Hamd be to Allah who has exalted us above many of His believing servants.”
-
Wawaritha sulaymanu dawooda waqala ya ayyuha alnnasu AAullimna mantiqa alttayri waooteena min kulli shayin inna hatha lahuwa alfadlu almubeenu;
Solomon succeeded David and said, “O people... We have been taught the language of birds (the ability to communicate with other creatures) and endowed with (the blessing of having knowledge about) all things... This is indeed a clear favor!”
-
Wahushira lisulaymana junooduhu mina aljinni waalinsi waalttayri fahum yoozaAAoona;
An army was formed for Solomon, from the jinni, men and birds. They were arranged together, recruited and administered (by Solomon).
-
Hatta itha ataw AAala wadi alnnamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuha alnnamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakum sulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroona;
When they came to the Valley of the Ants, one female ant said, “Ants! Go into your dwellings lest Solomon and his army inadvertently crush you.”
-
Fatabassama dahikan min qawliha waqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadika alssaliheena;
(Solomon) smiled at her words and said, “My Rabb... Enable me (with the Name Rahim in my essence) to be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do righteous deeds that please You, and include me among Your righteous servants with Your grace.
-
Watafaqqada alttayra faqala ma liya la ara alhudhuda am kana mina alghaibeena;
Then (one day, Solomon) inspected the birds and said, “Why can’t I see Hoopoe... Is he lost?”
-
LaoAAaththibannahu AAathaban shadeedan aw laathbahannahu aw layatiyannee bisultanin mubeenin;
“Unless he gives me a valid excuse for his absence I will punish him or execute him.”
-
Famakatha ghayra baAAeedin faqala ahattu bima lam tuhit bihi wajituka min sabain binabain yaqeenin;
Then (Hoopoe) came shortly after and said, “I saw something you do not know and I have come to you with reliable news from Sheba.”
-
Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyat min kulli shayin walaha AAarshun AAatheemun;
“I found a woman ruling over them (Shebeans) and she has been given of all things and she has a throne of sovereignty.”
-
Wajadtuha waqawmaha yasjudoona lilshshamsi min dooni Allahi wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli fahum la yahtadoona;
“I found her and her people worshipping the Sun instead of Allah... Satan has made their deeds appear pleasing and right to them and diverted them from the (right) way! Thus they cannot find the path of the reality.”
-
Alla yasjudoo lillahi allathee yukhriju alkhabaa fee alssamawati waalardi wayaAAlamu ma tukhfoona wama tuAAlinoona;
“(They have been deceived by their illusions) to not prostrate to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and the earth and who knows what you conceal and what you reveal.” (This is a verse of prostration.)
-
Allahu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi;
“Allah, there is no god, only HU, the Rabb of the Great Throne!”
-
Qala sananthuru asadaqta am kunta mina alkathibeena;
(Solomon) said, “Let us see if what you say is the truth or if you are of the liars.”
-
Ithhab bikitabee hatha faalqih ilayhim thumma tawalla AAanhum faonthur matha yarjiAAoona;
“Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them! Then leave them and see the state of their understanding.”
-
Qalat ya ayyuha almalao innee olqiya ilayya kitabun kareemun;
(Queen Sheba) said, “O eminent ones! An important and valuable letter has been delivered to me.”
-
Innahu min sulaymana wainnahu bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi;
“The letter is from Solomon; indeed (the beginning of it) reads: ‘By the one who is denoted by the name Allah (who created my being with His Names in accord with the meaning of the letter ‘B’), the Rahman, the Rahim.’”
-
Alla taAAloo AAalayya watoonee muslimeena;
(And says) “Do not be haughty with me but come to me in submission!”
-
Qalat ya ayyuha almalao aftoonee fee amree ma kuntu qatiAAatan amran hatta tashhadoona;
“O eminent ones... What would you advise me... I did not want to decide without consulting you.”
-
Qaloo nahnu oloo quwwatin waoloo basin shadeedin waalamru ilayki faonthuree matha tamureena;
They said, “We are both strong and mighty warriors... The decision is yours to make! You decide on your command.”
-
Qalat inna almulooka itha dakhaloo qaryatan afsadooha wajaAAaloo aAAizzata ahliha athillatan wakathalika yafAAaloona;
(Sheba) said, “When kings enter a country they thrash it and render the powerful ones powerless... This is what they do!”
-
Wainnee mursilatun ilayhim bihadiyyatin fanathiratun bima yarjiAAu almursaloona;
“So I shall send them a gift and see with what (news) my envoys (bearing the gifts) will return.”
-
Falamma jaa sulaymana qala atumiddoonani bimalin fama ataniya Allahu khayrun mimma atakum bal antum bihadiyyatikum tafrahoona;
When (the envoys) came to Solomon (with the gift) he said, “You think you can stop me with your gifts? But that which Allah gave me is better than that which He has given you! Only those like you will rejoice with such gifts!”
-
IrjiAA ilayhim falanatiyannahum bijunoodin la qibala lahum biha walanukhrijannahum minha athillatan wahum saghiroona;
“Go back (and tell) them... I swear I will come with forces that they will never be able to withstand and drive them out of there, helpless and disgraced!”
-
Qala ya ayyuha almalao ayyukum yateenee biAAarshiha qabla an yatoonee muslimeena;
(Solomon told his eminent ones), “O counselors... Who can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?”
-
Qala AAifreetun mina aljinni ana ateeka bihi qabla an taqooma min maqamika wainne AAalayhi laqawiyyun ameenun;
A demon from among the jinni said, “I will bring it before you get up from your seat... You can me trust me that I have enough power to do this.”
-
Qala allathee AAindahu AAilmun mina alkitabi ana ateeka bihi qabla an yartadda ilayka tarfuka falamma raahu mustaqirran AAindahu qala hatha min fadli rabbee liyabluwanee aashkuru am akfuru waman shakara fainnama yashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fainna rabbee ghaniyyun kareemun;
But one who had an understanding of the knowledge of the reality (who had the ability to act with the forces of the Names; Reflection of Divine Attribute) said, “I will bring it to you before you blink your eye”... When Solomon saw the throne placed before him, he said, “This is from the bounty of my Rabb... To see whether I will be grateful or ungrateful... And whoever is grateful, his gratitude is for his self (the realization and evaluation of the perfection of his essence)... And whoever is ungrateful, surely my Rabb is the Ghani, the Karim.”
-
Qala nakkiroo laha AAarshaha nanthur atahtadee am takoonu mina allatheena la yahtadoona;
(Solomon) said, “Disguise her throne, and let us see if she can find the Truth or if she is of those who are not guided.”
-
Falamma jaat qeela ahakatha AAarshuki qalat kaannahu huwa waooteena alAAilma min qabliha wakunna muslimeena;
When (Sheba) arrived she was asked, “Is your throne like this?”... She said, “It looks like it... We had been given knowledge before this and we had become Muslims (submitted).”
-
Wasaddaha ma kanat taAAbudu min dooni Allahi innaha kanat min qawmin kafireena;
And that which she worshipped besides Allah had stopped her... Indeed, she was from a people who denied the knowledge of the reality.
-
Qeela laha odkhulee alssarha falamma raathu hasibathu lujjatan wakashafat AAan saqayha qala innahu sarhun mumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameena;
Then she was told, “Enter the palace”... When (Queen Sheba) saw it she thought it was deep water and pulled her skirt up... (Solomon) said, “It’s just a palace made of crystal glass”... (Sheba) said, “My Rabb... I have wronged myself (by worshipping an external force, the Sun) but now I have submitted myself, along with Solomon, to Allah, the Rabb of the worlds!”
-
Walaqad arsalna ila thamooda akhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allaha faitha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoona;
Indeed, We disclosed to Thamud, their brother Salih, who said, “Serve Allah!”... But they divided themselves into two groups opposing one another.
-
Qala ya qawmi lima tastaAAjiloona bialssayyiati qabla alhasanati lawla tastaghfiroona Allaha laAAallakum turhamoona;
(Salih) said, “O my people! Why do you hasten on the bad rather than the good? Will it not be better for you to repent to Allah so you may be shown mercy?”
-
Qaloo ittayyarna bika wabiman maAAaka qala tairukum AAinda Allahi bal antum qawmun tuftanoona;
They said, “Because of you and your followers we have been subject to an evil omen.” (Salih) said, “Your evil omen is with Allah... No, you are a people being tried.”
-
Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtin yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona;
There was in that city a gang of nine men who caused corruption and rebelled.
-
Qaloo taqasamoo biAllahi lanubayyitannahu waahlahu thumma lanaqoolanna liwaliyyihi ma shahidna mahlika ahlihi wainna lasadiqoona;
Swearing with the oath, “By Allah” they said, “Let us attack (and kill) him and his family in the night, and to his guardian, we shall say, ‘We are unaware of his and his family’s death; indeed, we are telling the truth.’”
-
Wamakaroo makran wamakarna makran wahum la yashAAuroona;
Thus they devised a trap but We also devised a trap, of which they were unaware.
-
Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu makrihim anna dammarnahum waqawmahum ajmaAAeena;
Look at the result of their traps! We completely destroyed them and their people!
-
Fatilka buyootuhum khawiyatan bima thalamoo inna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yaAAlamoona;
Here are their houses, demolished and ruined, because of their wrongdoing... Indeed, there is a sign – a lesson – in this for a people with understanding.
-
Waanjayna allatheena amanoo wakanoo yattaqoona;
We saved the believers and those who protected themselves.
-
Walootan ith qala liqawmihi atatoona alfahishata waantum tubsiroona;
And Lot... How he said to his people, “You are deliberately engaging in that shameless act!”
-
Ainnakum latatoona alrrijala shahwatan min dooni alnnisai bal antum qawmun tajhaloona;
“Do you leave the women and lustfully sleep with men? No, you are a people in ignorance.”
-
Fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo akhrijoo ala lootin min qaryatikum innahum onasun yatatahharoona;
His people answered, “Drive Lot’s family out of the city! They are people who live purely.”
-
Faanjaynahu waahlahu illa imraatahu qaddarnaha mina alghabireena;
So We saved him and his people, except his wife... We ordained her to be one of those who stayed behind and perished.
-
Waamtarna AAalayhim mataran fasaa mataru almunthareena;
And We showered such a rain upon them! Atrocious is the rain that befalls the forewarned!
-
Quli alhamdu lillahi wasalamun AAala AAibadihi allatheena istafa allahu khayrun amma yushrikoona;
Say, “Hamd belongs to Allah... Salam to His chosen servants upon whom He bestows purity... Is Allah better or those they ascribe as partners to Him?”
-
Amman khalaqa alssamawati waalarda waanzala lakum mina alssamai maan faanbatna bihi hadaiqa thata bahjatin ma kana lakum an tunbitoo shajaraha ailahun maAAa Allahi bal hum qawmun yaAAdiloona;
Or the One who created the heavens and the earth, and who disclosed water for you from the sky? With it We made blissful gardens... It is not possible for you to have made even a single tree to grow in them... A god besides Allah? No, they are a people who have deviated from the Truth.
-
Amman jaAAala alarda qararan wajaAAala khilalaha anharan wajaAAala laha rawasiya wajaAAala bayna albahrayni hajizan ailahun maAAa Allahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona;
Or is the One better, who made the earth (the body) a stable station, and formed rivers (veins) between them, and fixed mountains (organs) therein and made a barrier between the two seas (consciousness – body)? A god besides Allah? No, the majority of them do not understand.
-
Amman yujeebu almudtarra itha daAAahu wayakshifu alssooa wayajAAalukum khulafaa alardi ailahun maAAa Allahi qaleelan ma tathakkaroona;
Or is the one better, to whom you pray when you are feeling down and who saves you from your suffering and appoints you vicegerents on earth? A god besides Allah? How little you recall these facts and how little you think...
-
Amman yahdeekum fee thulumati albarri waalbahri waman yursilu alrriyaha bushran bayna yaday rahmatihi ailahun maAAa Allahi taAAala Allahu AAamma yushrikoona;
Or the One who guides you (shows you the way to reality) on the land (material world) and in the sea (the world of knowledge – ideas) and who discloses the winds (the Rasuls) as heralds of His grace? A god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him.
-
Amman yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu waman yarzuqukum mina alssamai waalardi ailahun maAAa Allahi qul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena;
Or the One who manifests the creatures and then returns them (to their initial state) and nourishes you with sustenance from the sky and earth? A god besides Allah? Say, “Bring your definite proof then, if you are of the truthful.”
-
Qul la yaAAlamu man fee alssamawati waalardi alghayba illa Allahu wama yashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoona;
Say, “No one in the heavens and the earth knows the unknown besides Allah... And they are not aware of when they will be gathered!”
-
Bali iddaraka AAilmuhum fee alakhirati bal hum fee shakkin minha bal hum minha AAamoona;
Whereas they have an accumulation of knowledge about the eternal life to come. No, they are in doubt thereof... No, they are blind to it!
-
Waqala allatheena kafaroo aitha kunna turaban waabaona ainna lamukhrajoona;
Those who deny the knowledge of the reality say, “When we and our forefathers have become dust, will we really be brought back?”
-
Laqad wuAAidna hatha nahnu waabaona min qablu in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena;
“Indeed, we and our forefathers have been warned with this before! This is nothing but fables from the past.”
-
Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almujrimeena;
Say, “Observe the earth and see the how the guilty ones ended up.”
-
Wala tahzan AAalayhim wala takun fee dayqin mimma yamkuroona;
Do not grieve over them... And do not feel distressed by their schemes!
-
Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena;
They say, “If you are telling the truth, when will it be fulfilled?”
-
Qul AAasa an yakoona radifa lakum baAAdu allathee tastaAAjiloona;
Say, “Perhaps a part of what you want to hasten is close behind you!”
-
Wainna rabbaka lathoo fadlin AAala alnnasi walakinna aktharahum la yashkuroona;
Indeed, your Rabb is bountiful to mankind... But the majority of them are not grateful.
-
Wainna rabbaka layaAAlamu ma tukinnu sudooruhum wama yuAAlinoona;
Indeed, your Rabb knows what they conceal within and what they reveal.
-
Wama min ghaibatin fee alssamai waalardi illa fee kitabin mubeenin;
There is no unknown in the heavens and the earth that is not already recorded in the Clear Book (of the universe, and clearly apparent in existence)!
Not:That it is ‘unknown’ is according to the perceiver! If Allah wills He can change what appears to be unknown and make it known.
-
Inna hatha alqurana yaqussu AAala banee israeela akthara allathee hum feehi yakhtalifoona;
Indeed, this Quran narrates and explains most of the things over which the Children of Israel differed.
-
Wainnahu lahudan warahmatun lilmumineena;
Indeed, (the Quran) is a guide to the reality and grace for the believers.
-
Inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum bihukmihi wahuwa alAAazeezu alAAaleemu;
Indeed, your Rabb will judge between them from within their essence... HUis the Aziz, the Aleem.
-
Fatawakkal AAala Allahi innaka AAala alhaqqi almubeeni;
So place your trust in Allah! Indeed, you are upon the manifest Truth.
-
Innaka la tusmiAAu almawta wala tusmiAAu alssumma aldduAAaa itha wallaw mudbireena;
Indeed, you cannot make the dead (those who live unconsciously) hear; when they turn their backs (to the Truth) and go, you cannot make the deaf hear!
-
Wama anta bihadee alAAumyi AAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa man yuminu biayatina fahum muslimoona;
You cannot show the right way to the blind to guide them out of their wrong way! You can only make those hear, who have believed in Our signs within their essence as a result of their submission.
-
Waitha waqaAAa alqawlu AAalayhim akhrajna lahum dabbatan mina alardi tukallimuhum anna alnnasa kanoo biayatina la yooqinoona;
When the command (their own Doomsday [death] or the time prior to the general Doomsday) reaches them, We will produce a dabbah from the earth (a talking form from the earth [the body] during the experience of parting from the body, i.e. death) which will tell them that man had no certainty in Our signs (they were unable to observe the qualities of the Names that comprise their being)!”
-
Wayawma nahshuru min kulli ommatin fawjan mimman yukaththibu biayatina fahum yoozaAAoona;
During that time We will assemble as groups those who denied Our signs from every community... They will all be dispatched together.
-
Hatta itha jaoo qala akaththabtum biayatee walam tuheetoo biha AAilman ammatha kuntum taAAmaloona;
When they come, Allah will say, “Did you attempt to deny My signs even though they were beyond the scope of your knowledge? What was it that you did?”
-
WawaqaAAa alqawlu AAalayhim bima thalamoo fahum la yantiqoona;
The verdict has reached them because they did wrong (to themselves)! They can no longer talk!
-
Alam yaraw anna jaAAalna allayla liyaskunoo feehi waalnnahara mubsiran inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yuminoona;
Did they not see how we made the night for them to find tranquility in and the day as observable... Indeed, there are signs in this for a people who believe.
-
Wayawma yunfakhu fee alssoori fafaziAAa man fee alssamawati waman fee alardi illa man shaa Allahu wakullun atawhu dakhireena;
During that time, when the Horn is blown (when the spirit is blown out of the body, i.e. when death is experienced or when the dead are blown out of their graves during the time of gathering) everyone in the heavens (those who have found themselves at the level of consciousness) and everyone on earth (living at the bodily state), except whom Allah wills, will be struck with terror! All shall come to Him with their necks bent down (in utter humility).
-
Watara aljibala tahsabuha jamidatan wahiya tamurru marra alssahabi sunAAa Allahi allathee atqana kulla shayin innahu khabeerun bima tafAAaloona;
You see the mountains (the organs in your body) and think they are firmly fixed, but they move and pass away as the clouds (ideas – thoughts) move and pass away (by transforming into various understandings)... (The blowing of the Horn and all that pertains to it) is the art of Allah such that He has made all things an unalterable reality to experience. Indeed, He is Habir of what you do (as their Creator).
-
Man jaa bialhasanati falahu khayrun minha wahum min fazaAAin yawmaithin aminoona;
Whoever comes with good traits shall be given what is better... During that time they will be secure from what they fear.
-
Waman jaa bialssayyiati fakubbat wujoohuhum fee alnnari hal tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona;
And whoever comes with badness, their faces will be overturned in the fire... "You shall only live the consequences of your own deeds!"
-
Innama omirtu an aAAbuda rabba hathihi albaldati allathee harramaha walahu kullu shayin waomirtu an akoona mina almuslimeena;
“I have only been ordered to serve the Rabb of this city... Which He has made respectable, and everything belongs to Him! I have been ordered to be of those who are (aware of their) submission!”
-
Waan atluwa alqurana famani ihtada fainnama yahtadee linafsihi waman dalla faqul innama ana mina almunthireena;
“And to inform of the Quran!” So whoever accepts the reality will walk on this path to experience this Truth within his being... And whoever goes astray, say, “I am only of those who warn!”
-
Waquli alhamdu lillahi sayureekum ayatihi fataAArifoonaha wama rabbuka bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona;
Say, “Hamd belongs to Allah! He is going to show you His signs, and you are going to recognize them!” Your Rabb in not unaware of what you do.”
