Bismi Llaahi l-raḥmaani l-raḥeem

1. Waylun likulli humazatin lumazatin;

2. Allathee jamaAAa malan waAAaddadahu;

3. Yahsabu anna malahu akhladahu;

   Thinking his wealth will make him immortal!

4. Kalla layunbathanna fee alhutamati;

5. Wama adraka ma alhutamatu;

   And what informs you of the Crusher?

6. Naru Allahi almooqadatu;

   It is the inflamed fire of Allah (ignited in the mind, deriving from his nature)!

7. Allatee tattaliAAu AAala alafidati;

   Covering the hearts (the reflectors of the Names to consciousness).

8. lnnaha AAalayhim musadatun;

   Indeed, it closes in on them (they are eternally trapped in it),
