If we continue to recite this verse of the Quran, which came to the Rasulullah, at least 300 times a day, we will surprisingly notice that our ability to know and understand Allah’s system will increase and expand astonishingly.
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
`alama l-insaana maa lam y`alam[1]
Taught man that which he knew not.
Those who have read this verse at least 300 times a day have experienced immense development. But it must not be forgotten that Certainty of Allah is attained through knowledge.
Wa kadhalika aw haynaa ilayka roohan min amrinaa maa kunta tadree maa l-kitaabu wa la l-leemaanu wa lakin ja`aalanahu nooran nahdee bihi man nashaa man `ibaadinaa wa innaka latahdee ilaa siraatin mustaqeemin[2]
Thus We have revealed to you a spirit (the sensing of the meanings of the Names in your consciousness) by Our command... And you did not know what the knowledge of the reality and sunnatullah was, or what faith meant! But We formed it (the spirit) as Nur (knowledge) by which We guide to the reality whom We will among Our servants! And indeed, you guide to the reality (the straight path).
This verse aids to strengthen one’s spirit, to sharpen one’s insight, for better appreciation and use what’s been granted, and to be better able and more useful to one’s environment.
For those whose conditions are suitable, under the guide of a mentor and if possible while fasting this verse is advised to be read one thousand times a day for forty or eighty days. I have benefited much from this practice and so advise it without hesitation.
Kamaa ar-salnaa feekum rasoolan minkum yatloo `alaykum aayaatinaa wa yuzakeekum wa yu`allimukumu l-kitaaba wa l-hikmata wa yu`allimukum maa lam takoonoo t`alamoona[3]
We revealed a Rasul from within you (to disclose the reality), reciting (teaching) to you Our verses (signs pertaining to our reality within the core of all existence) and purifying you and teaching you the Book (of the reality and sunnatullah) and wisdom (the system and mechanics of creation) and that which you do not know.
These verses, Bakara 151 and Ash-Shura 52 the verse previously listed, were taught to me by the eminent Abdulkareem al-Jili. By constantly reciting these two verses with the determining of Allah, I have acquired endless benefits... Such as in READing the BOOK, in attaining wisdom and acquiring insight on things that I had never imagined. We are transient, soon we will leave this abode, but we would like to be the cause for many others to benefit from this good and reach enlightenment and wisdom, in hope they may say ‘May Allah be pleased with you’ and send the blessing of Ikhlas and Fatiha.
For this reason, I’m revealing these important verses to you here, and advising that they should be read at least one hundred times a day.
What’s even better is if the first verse is recited one thousand times a day, as explained above, for forty or eighty days whilst fasting and thereafter reduce it to one hundred daily repetitions. Then, this second verse should be done in the same manner, that is to recite one thousand times a day for forty or eight days while fasting and thereafter to continue by reading it one hundred times a day.
With certainty, we should know that these two verses are of the most valuable jewels in the Quran!
May Allah make it easy!
