"Audhu billahi minash shaytanirrajeem"

Bismi Llaahi l-raḥmaani l-raḥeem

1. Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru;

   The Hour has neared and the Moon (Qamar) has split asunder!

2. Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun;

   Yet when they see a miracle they turn away and say, “Ordinary magic”!

3. Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun;

   They deny and follow their own baseless desires (all that is pleasing to their egos)! But every matter will be settled!

4. Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarun;

   Indeed, there has come to them news in which there is deterrence.

5. Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuru;

   Wisdom (erudite knowledge with an accurate explanation of the purpose)! Yet warning does not help (the intellectually incapacitated)!

6. Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurin;

   So, turn away from them! At that time when the Caller calls to the terrifying event...

7. KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirun;

   Their eyes will be cast down in terror, they will emerge from their graves (cocoons) as if they are locusts spreading about.

8. MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirun;

   Those who deny the knowledge of the reality will run to the Caller saying, “This is an intense day!”

9. Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujira;

   Before them the people of Noah had also denied. They denied Our servant and said, “He is possessed” and prevented him (from his mission).

10. FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun faintasir;

    So, he (Noah) prayed to his Rabb, “Indeed, I am overpowered, help me.”

11. Fafatahna abwaba alssamai bimain munhamirin;

    And We opened the gates of heaven with pouring rain!

12. Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudira;

    And caused the earth to burst with springs and the waters met for a purpose, which had been decreed!

13. Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurin;

    We carried him (Noah) on (the Ark) made of planks and nails.

14. Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufira;

    (The Ark) sailed under Our supervision. To requite the one who had been shown ingratitude (Noah)!

15. Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirin;

    Indeed, We left it (the Ark) behind as a sign (for the people)! Is there not anyone who thinks?

16. Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri;

    Look at how My suffering and warning was fulfilled!

17. Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin;

    Indeed We have eased the Quran that the reality may be remembered and contemplated! Is there not anyone who thinks?

18. Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri;

    Aad also denied! And how was My suffering and warning fulfilled?

19. Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin;

    Indeed, We sent upon them a hurricane of continuous destruction on an unfortunate day.

20. TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirin;

    Extracting the people as if they were uprooted trunks of palm trees.

21. Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri;

    And My suffering and warnings were fulfilled!

22. Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin;

    Indeed, We have simplified the Quran, that the reality may be remembered and contemplated! Is there not anyone who thinks?

23. Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuri;

    And Thamud also denied.

24. Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurin;

    They said, “Are we to follow a man like us? Indeed, we would then be astray from our faith and in foolishness.”

25. Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirun;

    “Has dhikr (the reminder of the knowledge of the reality) been sent to him from among all of us? Rather, he is an insolent liar!”

26. SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiru;

    They will know who the insolent liar is soon!

27. Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabir;

    Indeed, We disclosed to them a she-camel as an object of trial... So, observe them and be patient.

28. Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarun;

    And give them the news that the water has been shared between them... Each group is to take their share in turn.

29. Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAata faAAaqara;

    They called out to their friends. They took their share and then savagely hamstrung her!

30. Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri;

    And how was My suffering and warning fulfilled!

31. Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiri;

    Indeed, We disclosed upon them the single blast (an intense vibrant sound) and they became like crumbs and debris (which they give to their cattle).

32. Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin;

    Indeed, We have eased the Quran that the reality may be remembered and contemplated! So, is there not anyone who thinks?

33. Kaththabat qawmu lootin bialnnuthuri;

    The people of Lot also denied the warner.

34. Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin;

    Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones... Except for the family of Lot... We saved them at dawn.

35. NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakara;

    As a favor from Us... Thus We requite the grateful!

36. Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuri;

    Indeed, he (Lot) warned them of Our intense seizure, but they doubted the warners!

37. Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri;

    Indeed, they wanted to take advantage (lustfully) of his (Lot’s) guests so We blinded their vision, saying, “Taste My suffering and warnings now!”

38. Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun;

    And indeed, the deserved suffering was effectuated upon them in the morning.

39. Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri;

    So, taste My suffering and My warnings now!

40. Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin;

    Indeed, We have simplified the Quran, that the reality may be remembered and contemplated! So, is there not anyone who thinks?

41. Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuru;

    Indeed, warners came also to the family of Pharaoh.

42. Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirin;

    But they denied all of Our signs! So We seized them with unchallengeable might!

43. Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburi;

    Are your deniers of the knowledge of the reality better than these? Or have you been given news of immunity in the scriptures (the revealed knowledge of wisdom)?

44. Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirun;

    Or do they say, “We are a community supporting each other”?

45. Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura;

    Soon that community will be defeated and they will turn their backs and flee!

46. Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarru;

    No, the Hour (of death) is when they will meet the suffering! That hour is more intense and more painful (than being defeated in war).

47. Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurin;

    Indeed, the guilty are in error and foolishness.

48. Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqara;

    They will be dragged into the Fire on their faces that day! And it will be said, “Taste the burning of Saqar (Hell)!”

49. Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarin;

    Indeed, We have created everything with its program (qadar – fate).

50. Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bialbasari;

    Our command (the order and the execution) is one; like a glance of the eye (everything transpires in a ‘single instance’ in the sight of Allah)!

51. Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakum fahal min muddakirin;

    Indeed, We destroyed many of your kinds... So, is there not anyone who will ponder on this?

52. Wakullu shayin faAAaloohu fee alzzuburi;

    The knowledge of everything they do is recorded in the Zabur (books of wisdom).

53. Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatarun;

    Small or big, everything is inscribed in detail!

54. Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharin;

    Indeed, the protected ones are in Paradises and on the banks of rivers.

55. Fee maqAAadi sidqin AAinda maleekin muqtadirin;

    Living the reality through the forces of the Maleek, the Muqtadir!
